I’ll admit it, I am a Gluten-Free Bread SNOB! And when my customers ask me if we make a bread or a bread mix. My reply has always been the same: “No, because I haven’t found the right recipe” Until NOW!
I’ve worked for years to find a bread that I would actually eat. One that my husband and kids would enjoy too. One without Xanthan or guar gums and no preservatives too. And, most importantly, one that would be simple enough to fit into my super busy schedule. Using our All Purpose Flour Blend I believe we have a winner. Like most GF breads it is on the small size – but what it lacks in stature it more than makes up for in taste. With a lovely natural mouth-feel and no aftertaste. Makes the best toast too. Yum!

Hi Deb! I haven’t talked to you for a long time. I’m hoping this is the bread recipe I’ve been waiting for! Can I use almond milk for the powdered dry milk? Could it be heated instead of the water with the yeast? My three granddaughters are on a GF diet. Milk isn’t the best choice either. So, any ideas? Your comments will be appreciated.
Is there any way you could call me with an answer? 509-230-3873 We are having a VERY SPECIAL TEA PARTY on Sunday with the grand girls.
Thanks,
Shirley
Hi Shirley,
Great to hear from you. Regarding the bread – yes, you can sub almond milk. I don’t understand your question about heating instead of water in the yeast? If you mean the almond milk instead of water, no, I would not sub almond milk with the yeast. Heating the yeast with hot water is important to activating it. I hope that helps. I would call you this a.m. but I’m doing a radio show this morning and in the bakery after that. Hope you have a wonderful party! And a great new year. Please stay in touch.
Deb
Hi, I have some GF prairie baking mix. I’d like to make biscuits with it but can’t find a recipe (other than the skillet recipe on this website). Do you have a recipe I can use?
Hi Kathy,
Sorry for the delay, I’ve been a little behind on responding.
I have an amazing recipe for Whipped Cream Biscuits. I made them in my “Now We’re Cookin’ Gluten-Free” cooking class last week and everyone loved them. I am going to transcribe the recipe and post it right now.
Please let me know if you try them.
Thanks,
Deb
