Buttery Skillet Biscuits on the BBQ

It’s so exciting to see our Fresh Pizza Dough become a best-seller here in Montana.

This plant-based, egg-free dough is so delicious, we often eat it raw. And we continue to be amazed by its’  versatility… it also makes amazing biscuits! We call them “Buttery Skillet Biscuits”. Bonus: Make them on the BBQ for the perfect camping biscuit. (see recipe below)

  • Set out 1/2 Fresh Dough Ball for 15 min, to get close to room temp. Or prepare GFP Pizza dough from mix.  (If using the dry mix, make the entire bag. The recipe call for 1/2 the mix – save the 2nd 1/2 in cooler or fridge)
  • Put 12 in cast iron in the BBQ and heat to about  425 degrees.
Instructions
  1. Cut up ¾ stick of butter
  2. Measure out 1 cup of plain yogurt.
  3. Assemble: Crumble fresh dough ball (equal to ½ Pizza mix), cut in the butter and add yogurt on top. Mix by hand just until the consistency looks and feels like cottage cheese.
  4. Finally using a large soup spoon drop the dough onto the hot skillet (where it will immediately start to sizzle as the butter melts into the skillet.)
  5. BBQ them for about 15 min. turning to keep from burning. If cooking in an oven, bake for about 17min. until crispyThe Pizza dry mix is available in stores and on Amazon. And the yeast packet is included.
